Scales

Even without anything in them, these bowls are a decoration in their own right. No two are alike; their shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns never cease to surprise. What do they have in common? Glass, fire, and a great deal of patience.
The bowls are created using the fusing technique, starting with sheets of cut glass or finely ground glass. They typically go into the kiln two or three times at temperatures ranging from approximately 700 to 900°C. During the final firing, the glass takes on its definitive shape at a lower temperature, using a mold.
And then, the light does the rest. As sunlight passes through the glass, a constantly changing array of colors, shadows, and reflections emerges—a subtle play of light that looks different at every moment.
Beautiful with something inside, stunning with just a touch of light.
